busy and stressed

tomorrow ends the most stressful month i've had since i started this job. this last week started with nightmares and fear that i might not be able to close the month out and reach my goals, but it looks like, as of today, i have that accomplished. whew. thank you, thank you, i'll take a bow.

luckily i feel as if it was all worthwhile, b/c now i get a few days "off"...we have a conference for our entire division in NYC that starts on Tuesday. i'm leaving tomorrow for a long weekend of fun with friends in one of my favorite cities. i'm taking the mac dog, so the adventures and travels of mckenzie continue. i'm sure people think i'm nuts for how often i take that little creature on trips, but it's just so much dang fun!

my new best friend, mark cuban

i love working out, try to everyday. i go to a gym here in dallas called the premier club, where mark cuban is also a member. i see him there quite often, so it has been commonplace for me to joke with friends about mark and i being pals.

this afternoon i was doing my usual workout and passed him in the weightroom. he stopped me and said, "what is your name?" i said, "katy." then mark, my new best friend, said, " i see you in here all the time, running like crazy on that treadmill. i always think to myself, wow that's quite a pace, i wish i could run like that!!" i just laughed and said,"it was very nice to meet you."

sorry, i have to recount it in full...a lot of people can say they met mark cuban, but few can say that he initiated it. so to all of you that i've joked with about mark and i being buddies...now it's true (well, kind of...). funny that he probably hasn't thought about it since, but i'm here blogging about it to you. well, that's my story for the day. oh, and by the way, let me know if you need some mavs tickets, i can hook you up. i'm friends with mark cuban. ; )

she's back...

just so you all know, mckenzie is back in full swing! after losing three teeth, gaining a small pink cast (where the IV went in), and me out 200 dollars, she is available for petting, barking, and eating treats. i know we are all breathing a sigh of relief out there that mac and i made it through this ordeal...and i'm not kidding, you would have thought my infant child was going in for open heart surgery! but she's fine...and so am i. ;)

pray for the mac dog

it is 11:45, the night before mckenzie's big tooth extraction. to say it has been on my mind is an understatement. in the middle of a very, very busy day, every ten minutes i would touch my stomach and wonder...why am i so nervous? i now know...b/c tomorrow is the time where my sweet little three lb. tuna goes under, even if just for a few moments...to have her teeth fixed.

tonight jay and i have been doing all we can, as if it is her last meal...to spend time, play with, take outside...the love of our life, the sweet, sweet tuna. tomorrow morning it's off to city vet, and a day of sufferning for my sweet pet. i am distraught. i already have plans of soft, frozen pet treats for the mac (in the fridge), love, rest...etc, friday night will be a night at home with the sweet girl, jay, and myself. can't wait to take care of her...she is the most loveable, huggable, creature alive.

prayers for the sweetness requested...

wow.

my wonderful friend mollie found a great article that i found very thought provoking. i was ready in an instant to give to aid in the tsunami relief, this is a horrible tragedy. any and all help is so greatly needed. i heard last week that ten dollars can go so far as to get water and food for a victim for three months.

on that same note, a time like this also makes one think... about our dollars on a daily basis, who we are voting for, what our dollars are going toward, and to think about our national policies... check out her site at www.molliedonovan.blogspot.com, read the january 5th entry, a fabulous ny times article.

i have been heartbroken by this tragedy. i received an email from my sister-in-law tonight with amazing photography of before and after pics. these are all taken from the air, so you are able to see the changes in the actual geography of the land. it is insane. some of these are just unbelievable. check it out. if that doesn't make you want to give, i don't know what will. www.redcross.org

a new year, an interesting beginning

i concede. OU has lost. eeeew, that was ugly. i believe my quote to jay about half-way through the third quarter and then later to my dad on the phone was..."please make it stop, my heart is breaking in my chest...i can feel it." i wasn't mad at all, just heartbroken...again. after two great seasons, in which, i might add, i was a VERY dedicated fan. attending every game i possibly could, watching all others faithfully on tv, we embarassed ourselves. to those who have not watched any other OU games, i promise, that was not the same team.

now i need to ask a simple question. after six months on a job, is it fair (for lack of a better word) to change someone's job description and possibly their territory, after an exceptional job performance? these, my friends, are the thoughts of someone in the middle of a merger. i was told from the beginning that "nothing would change," and as i watched other people suffer through job struggles, i am now finding myself amidst one myself. anyone know of any good jobs in the dallas area? ; )

oh yeah, and my cell phone is being held together by duct tape. long story. i miss 2004.

2005, please come around my way soon!!!!

The Heady Days of J. R. and Landry Are History in Humbled Dallas

so jay's hard work with this dallas strong-mayor bid is really starting to pay off. maybe my favorite of his college profs will find him in the little local rag...in the words of my sweet friend wyatt, jay, "Why are you not going for publication with a higher distribution?"

heehee

normally a letterman fan, jay leno hit the funny bone on this sketch.

let it snow, let it snow...

breckenridge just may possibly be the greatest place on earth. the ski trip was fabulous, the snow was, as the locals say, "epic." perfect weather, perfect time. i did not want to leave.

in fact, i recall about 3pm saturday afternoon, coming up the quicksilver lift, thinking to myself, in 36 hours, i will be at a desk checking my 4,000 emails and thinking...36 hours ago i was in a lift overlooking the mountains, snow, and all of the beauty of this resort and God's creation. and yes, that is what i am thinking. bummer.

all that said, i am back in reality with the rest of you weasels. thankful for a great trip, a beautiful place, friends, and that it's almost CHRISTMAS!!! no, not the "winter holidays," CHRISTMAS!! i am so fed up with this sheesh about having to worry about being PC about Christmas. it is, in all reality, a christian holiday. if you don't like it, celebrate festivus or something, but let me have my favorite holiday of the year!!! you can't take it away from me...please!?!?! ; )

at least there's been ONE great vote this year...

U2 is mi favorito band of all time and now and forevermore...amen.

weekend update with katy link

i got to see my little tykes this weekend...or my brother, josh's kids, i should say. they are hilarious and i have so much fun with them. there is nothing like a bunch of little ones running around your apartment wrecking havoc to make you smile. they rock. carter, audrey, asher, and caroline. i'll post pics of all of them sometime soon, as well as the other bro's (jarrod) wild men, kyle, nathan, and carson. ; ) and by the way, just as i think i'm becoming a real video-gamer, those kids come into town and prove me wrong. how are eight year-olds better than me at these stupid games, anyway? grrrrrrrr, i need to spend more time on that dang playstation 2.

the rest of the weekend was spent christmas party-ing, white rock marathon-ing (not me, my bro...but it did make my little runner's heart happy and wanting a little more to train for a half marathon than during my runs the days before). the half marathon i can see, but the condition of those people after they finished the marathon, i can't. you marathoners are STRANGE. it's supposed to be fun, and that did not look fun to me. but more power to ya, i'm impressed watching you hobble side-ways down stairs and urinate on yourselves. giggle. maybe i'm just jealous.

oh and one last thing, i don't know what your plans are for new year's, but i feel i should fair-warn you, it may not feel the same, the times, they are a changin'.
