The war in Iraq has now lasted longer than the U.S. involvement in the war that President Bush's father fought in, World War II.
As of Sunday, the conflict in Iraq has raged for three years and just over eight months.

The Iraq war was over in 2003 when Sadamm was removed and the Iraqi people were freed. Since that time, Iraq had been in a reconstrution period. The WWII reconstruction period lasted 12 years.
first off, i don't like posting anonymous comments much, because i feel that the poster is not confident in their reply. but in this case, i wanted to point out that the years of the reconstruction were an ENTIRELY different set of circumstances after wwii. if you read the article in it's entirety, you might have seen this:
