cousin's camp

the link kids

tonight was so fun. every year once school is out, we help my parents out with "cousin's camp" - a time for both of my brothers' kids to all be together with each other and all of us! we had such a great time kicking off the camp tonight with a trip to bubba's and a pool party at our place. the kids had a wonderful time and of course, so did we.

more pics to come this weekend - we are taking them to the ranger game on sunday for their annual birthday party hosted by aunt katy and uncle jay...stay tuned for more pics of the world's cutest kiddos (can you tell i'm proud of them?)!

police and elvis

last night we went to the old starplex (now superpages.com and has been smirnoff, but it's still starplex to me) to see elvis costello and the police.  what a show!  and what a great night and time we had.  we got to hear so many great songs and they didn't bully the crowd by thinking we were there to hear anything we couldn't sing along to.  i wasn't ashamed, i belted it out to roxanne and a few others, as did the rest of our crew. good times!

whew!

i love lazy saturday mornings. i promise to get out and be productive the rest of the day, but this has been nice. i feel we have earned it lately...

we have been so incredibly busy - at work, at night, constantly! but our work has not been in vain, i have some great projects going now at work, jay finished with his current job on friday and starts his new job on monday, we are in contract (with a good inspection completed yesterday) on a beautiful house in the m-streets, right where we want to be, and in the perfect little tudor-style cottage! things are good and we feel very blessed.

fun stuff happenings - we took our moms and one of our brothers and his family to the house of blues gospel brunch for mother's day (we love you both, happy mother's day!).  it was a great time, and i highly recommend going.  some great music and wonderful food made for the perfect family outing.  we have also still been going to all the stars playoff games.  it was so fun to see them beat the red wings the other night.  i'm hoping for another victory in a few minutes - go stars!  we also got to see one of my favorite bands, the old 97's, before the game on wednesday in victory plaza.  it was a lot of fun.

some pics of our happenings lately...

two of my nephews at HOB gospel brunch on stage

jarrod's whole family got up there!

old 97's show just before we watched the stars beat the red wings.  go stars!

view from the kitchen of our new house!

another backyard view - can't wait to have you all over for a party!  norman and mckenzie are very excited to have a fun backyard again...pups are always welcome at our house.  ; )  more pics to come later - once it's actually OUR house in july...

perfect weather = perfect weekend

at the nasher

i know it's overkill, but does anyone know how much i love the spring in texas? oh my, this weekend really was perfect. a cool breeze and plenty of sun does a body good.

we spent some time with the pups friday.  a porch on greenville and watching the stars at our friend dan and steph's house made for a perfect night. saturday jay, norman, and i went out on the katy trail for two hours, just enjoying the weather and a nice jog/walk. we got in a little poolside fun with some friends and then went to to see our friend mike's band, petty theft, that night at the nasher sculpture center.  enjoying a little tom petty on a green lawn filled with beautiful sculptures and plenty of good friends (especially on a night like that) felt a bit like a little piece of heaven. good gravy that was fun and relaxing.  we wrapped it all up on sunday night with the longest nhl game ever, watching the stars wrap up another playoff game by taking out the sharks at 1:30 monday morning.  woot, go stars!  some pics of the fun times (i was too tired to take pics at the stars game, sorry, i will for sure take some next round!)...

ladies and gentlemen, i give you petty theft!

how jay got beat up at fight night

so last night i attended fight night, which is hosted by the real estate council here in dallas. essentially it is a schmooze fest for dallas working folk. a lot of cash mcmogulson's running amuck - cocktail hour, steak dinner, cigars, and boxing. it is a boy's dream, but i was having a pretty good time myself. got to wear a new dress and chat with lots of people i haven't seen in a while.

so about the time dinner was wrapping up and boxing was beginning, my friend marc shows me a text message from my hubby saying "need to talk to katy, now." i was definitely startled. jay had been playing left field for our softball team while i was watching the silicone-clad women of dallas serve drinks to drooling old men. so at the same moment the first punches were thrown in the ring at fight night, jay got punched in the face with a softball. and as all this was happening, i was sitting at the anatole without a car or any cash for a cab (i caught a ride with a friend and took a tiny purse with no cash - my parents always told me to take cash...whoops) and was unable to rush to my sweet jay's side.

anyway, a big thank you to meg, my dear friend from college that thankfully rescued jay (she is on our softball team) and took him to the hospital for EIGHT stitches! i am so grateful to her for taking care of jay. strange coincidence is that meg's husband, chris, was also at fight night. wow, isn't the world small. fight night was a good time and i will definitely go again next year - however, i was happy to get home and to jay's side. i think next year i will have to take him with me, we don't need any additional nights apart if this is how it's gonna turn out! poor guy, fight night was really hard on him...
